Kristen Kaplan rejoined VCU’s Performance Management Group in January 2009 after serving as the first Associate Director of ConnectNetwork, which includes ConnectRichmond, ConnectRappahannock, and ConnectSouthside. Prior to this position she served PMG, working on various projects for the public sector, including Governor Kaine's Workforce Development Strategic Plan and also his Commission on Sexual Violence; Governor Warner’s Youth Public Safety Advisory Council (GYPSAC); an evaluation of the DMV’s Transportation Safety Services’ grant program; and helped manage the Virginia Executive Institute. Before joining VCU she helped administer Conservation International’s $5 million Healthy Communities Initiative and also worked at ICF Consulting, focusing on nonprofit contracts. In her spare time she serves on the Junior League of Richmond’s Community Response Committee (which provides strategic planning, board development and fundraising assistance to local nonprofits), as a VA delegate of the national Nonprofit Congress and is an advisory board member and founder of Hands On Greater Richmond, a volunteer initiative. She was named one of Style Weekly's "Top 40 Under 40" in 2007 and was highlighted in 2008 as one of the Governor’s Office on Volunteerism and Community Service’s “Faces of Service.”
