Guiding the work

The following is a sample of topics related to guiding the work that can be provided individually or packaged together to create a learning experience for your employees.

Leading change

Leaders and managers are often forced to lead and manage in a changing environment. This session identifies the process of managing major change and developing strategies to assist staff in successfully completing the transition process as well as how to communicate most effectively during this time.

Problem solving and critical thinking

The goal of this workshop is to help you become more confident in thinking critically in problem situations and presenting your ideas more effectively.

Effective group decision-making

Making effective decisions in groups is a critical workplace skill. This workshop will provide practical tools and techniques you can use to more effectively prepare for group meetings, manage the meeting process, keep participants actively engaged and reach a consensus.

Basic group facilitation skills

Making group decisions can be a daunting task without a well-facilitated process. Facilitators help groups who are meeting for a common purpose to make decisions, solve problems or productively exchange ideas and information. This highly interactive workshop will demonstrate basic group facilitation techniques and help you understand how the role of a facilitator differs from that of a chairperson or meeting convener. Prior facilitation experience is not required.

Intermediate group facilitation skills

This workshop is designed for participants who have had some prior facilitation experience and have a basic understanding of the role of a facilitator. Tools and techniques are demonstrated that help groups generate and organize information efficiently. Participants will have a chance to experience and practice more complex processes than those covered under basic group facilitation skills.

Developing and leading teams

“Must be a team player.” “Must have a strong team orientation.” Phrases like these have become common in our daily workplaces. We see them in employment advertisements. We see them in job and position descriptions. And we’ve seen them for more than 30 years. Teams continue to serve as a real and integral part of our everyday work lives. This workshop focuses on how to build and lead successful workplace teams.

Accelerating the team advantage

Teamwork is frequently the key to organizations that succeed and is almost always lacking in those that fail. This workshop highlights ways to accelerate the untapped team advantage.

Leading a diverse workforce

Through self-examination and environmental examination, participants will gain an understanding of how the complex nature of culture impacts the workplace. Participants will discuss and develop strategies to eliminate cultural barriers and better utilize the strengths that diversity brings to their organizations.

Managing cultural collisions

In this ever-changing, diverse world in which we live and work, the differences in our cultures can add greatly to the complexity of conflict management. How do we resolve “cultural collisions” in a way that will lead to better understanding and more effective communications between different cultures?

Building culturally competent organizations

How do you lead your organization past a general understanding and appreciation of diversity to one that truly values the importance of culture and reflects this value through its structure, leadership, attitudes and policies?

Delegating

A manager’s secret to gaining more time to complete projects and non-routine tasks is to delegate and cross-train staff. Practice with this simple and systematic approach improves one’s confidence level in getting the expected results.

Fostering innovation: moving from needs to creative solutions

Every person has the ability to be creative; it is not a trait that is found in only a lucky few. However, individuals and groups often encounter barriers that inhibit their creativity. This workshop will demonstrate and allow you to practice various tools and techniques to help foster creative problem solving, especially in group settings.
